On this page you will find lots of information about Year 5!
You will find information about homework, the websites we use and some extra fun things linked to our topic- which at the moment is America!
Please note that we will have P.E. three times a week:
5J's PE days are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
5M's PE days are: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
Please make sure your child brings a suitable winter kit every PE day.
Please remember to check Purple Mash for any homework set!
We look forward to updating this page with more exciting things, as well as examples of the fantastic work we are already creating this year!
Miss Mason and Miss Jaconelli
AmericaThis half term we will be learning about North America! We will be finding out about all the different states in America- can you name them all? Use this quiz to find out.
Last half term we were learning about the Ancient Greeks. Here are some of the Greek Vases we made!
Times Table Rockstars! We love Times Tables Rock Stars in Year 5. Every child has a username and password for the website and they practice every week in class. It is a fantastic way to have fun and earn coins to spend on their avatar. Every week we will set a challenge on TTRS to be completed by the start of the next week. Simply click on the link and ask your child to show you how it works!
SpellingsIn Year 5 you will be set spellings each Monday, and we will have a spelling test on the Friday. Please make sure you are practicing your spellings at home. Spelling Shed is a great way for you to practice each week, and we will be using it in class as well.
Purple Mash!n Year 5 we will be using Purple Mash a lot! We use in class for our ICT lessons and we will be setting our weekly homework on it. So children will become very familiar with how it works. It is a wonderful tool to set and check work, communicate with our students if they get stuck, and to display any updates, hints or tips. Your children will be able to show you what it is all about, but just in case you're unsure on what Purple Mash can do, here is a short video we made during school closure showing the key areas to look at.
